The Big Bash Band of Hawkshead
Here's our final graphic score for the Audio Explorers project for Sound and Music - soundandmusic.org - that will be featured in Barrow Park as part of FON - fonfestival.org
We have learnt how to animate this week and worked with the whole school to create our graphic score. We created an improvising 'foley' orchestra to play the finished score and would like you to have a go at playing it as well.
If you would like to send us either a link to your version or send audio of your version to info@shaunblezard.com and we will feature it on the blog :-)
Big Bash Band Feral Choir
Here's a film of a graphic score by Shane McKenna that we have been using to inspire us for our own graphic score making.
We have been learning to improvise during this week and here's our 'feral' choir playing Shane's score - a feral choir is an improvising non traditional choir.
Thanks to Shane for letting us post his work - why not visit his site and see some of the other amazing work he's been involved in - shanemckenna.com

Wednesday's blog
This morning we did animation which was great fun we made small movies out of shapes not objects. Our shapes had to represent music dynamics like tempo, pitch, volume, rhythm, stacarto, piano, and forte. They were very good everyone it. Our movies will be on the blog tonight.
This afternoon we went out into Fletcher’s Field. We went to find a place to represent a graphic score. The most fun part of this afternoon was finding the places to represent a graphic score and using the camera.

Journeys
We made this animation on Tuesday during the Big Bash Band project with Shaun. We told a story of a journey from Hakshead to London, London to Paris and Paris to outerspace. We worked in 4 groups and then added them all together. We then created the music to go with our new graphic score making sounds with our voices and bodies. We hope you like our film :-)

Project Update - The First 2 Days....
11th of July Monday morning we began our project for the big show!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First we remind ourselves of what we did for the graphic scoring and how to do it, and then we went off into groups and made our own story and we thought about what symbols we could us for the story and we were thinking about how to animate them in the afternoon.
12th of July Tuesday 9:00am to 10:15am
Early this morning we remade our pieces for the animations and were thinking what kind of music would go with the objects. And also we were setting up the web cams for the animations and learning how to use the web page.

12th of July Tuesday at 10:45am to 12:00pm
We started to set up the animations and started to take pictures.
And we had to move the pictures the thickness of your thumb or the pictures would move too fast. And it was tricky but fun.
We played around with voices and decided what we want to do. After that we put it to our animations that we did this morning.
Feral Choir - singing graphic scores
A recording of our 'feral' choir - a 20 piece improvising ensemble working to a graphic score - we were exploring following a musical score and changing what we were doing as the score changed - this was working to http://www.vimeo.com/6905960 by Shane McKenna
